SALES TAX
S. R. O. 1018 (I)/84. - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 7 of the Sales Tax Act, 1951 (III of 1951), the Federal Government is pleased to direct that the following further amendment shall be made in this Ministry's Notification No. S. R. O. 666 (I)/81, dated the 25th June, 1981, namely :-
In the aforesaid Notification, in the table, against Sl. No. 35 in column (1), in column (2), the semicolons, words, commas, letters, figure and brackets "; strip-board or batten-board, other than wooden flooring manufactured from waste wooden strips, lathes or battens obtained from used packing crates or packing cases or chests falling under heading No. 44.15 provided that-
(i) 'plywood' is not affixed to such board ;
(ii) any wooden veneer is not affixed to such board ; and
(iii) such board is not laminated or further processed " shall be omitted.

S. R. O. 1019 (I)/84. - In pursuance of sub-rule (2) of rule 3 of the Civil Servants (Appointment, Promotion and Transfer) Rules, 1973, the following method, qualifications and other conditions are laid down for appointment to the following posts in the Directorate of Research and Statistics under the Central Board of Revenue, Islamabad.

Provided further that for Government servants who have completed at least 2 years service, maximum age limit may be relaxed by not more than 10 years up to the age of 55 years.
E. PROBATION
Persons appointed by promotion or direct recruitment shall be on probation for a period of one year. This period may be curtailed for good and sufficient reasons to be recorded, or if considered necessary, it may be extended for a period not exceeding one year as may be prescribed at the time of appointment. Appointment on probation shall be subject to the provisions of Article 6 of Civil Servants Act, 1973.
This Notification issues with the concurrence of the Establishment Division.

Statistical Assistant (BPS-11) 50% posts to be filled in by promotion from amongst the senior Statistical Clerks and 50% by direct recruitment.
Draftsman (BPS-11) By direct recruitment.
Senior St. Clerks. (BPS-7) 50% posts by promotion from junior St. Clerks and 50% by direct recruitment.
Junior St. Clerks. (BPS-5) By direct recruitment.
B. CONDITION FOR PROMOTION
- Promotion to posts in column 1 below shall be made by selection from amongst the persons who hold the posts specified in column 2 on a regular basis and possess the qualification and experience prescribed in column 3.

- Appointment by transfer shall be made for amongst the persons holding appointment on a regular basis in the same grade in which the post to be filled exists, provided the person concerned possesses the qualification/experience prescribed for direct recruitment or promotion to the post concerned.
D. QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND AGE LIMITS FOR DIRECT RECRUITMENT
- A candidate must possess the educational qualifications and experience and must be within the age limits as mentioned against the post concerned in the schedule to this Notification :
Provided that the maximum age limits will be relaxed by 3 years in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Buddist Community, recognised tribles of the Trible Areas, Azad Kashmir and Northern Areas (District of Gilgit, Skardu and Diamir), in accordance with the instructions issued by the Establishment Division :
